"I love tutoring at Homework Central because it is rewarding in so many ways: being part of a team of tutors and site coordinators dedicated to helping our students; the gratitude we receive from parents; knowing how much teachers appreciate the individualized help we give their students. But the best reward happens every time a student looks up at me with a smile and says, "Oh, NOW I get it!" "

"Thank you to Homework Central for providing a personal learning environment for our students where they can focus on their academics after school. Homework Central volunteers empower our students to achieve academic excellence through parent and community support. Most importantly, Homework Central provides gifts of success and pride to our students and good feelings of making a difference in the lives of children to our parents and community members. Thank you again."
Dr. Cynthia Simms, Superintendent, San Mateo-Foster City School District.
"Being a part of Homework Central is an important achievement in my life. Childhood mentors nurtured my love of learning with events like hiking, ballet theater, sports, museums, and many more. In high school, I joined Homework Central as a tutor because I wanted to give back to the community. In college, I worked toward a B.A. in Psychology with a desire to develop an expertise in family therapy. I continued being a role model for the children at Homework Central, and I also saw myself partnering with parents to expand their understanding of the education system. The warmth I received from families, tutors, and teachers prompted me to concentrate my post-graduate work in Education. My new role as the HWC Site Coordinator at Park Elementary School allows me to work with the community I grew to love, provide educational support to the children, and encourage parents to take an active role in their child's education.
We have an obligation to support our schools together as a community. I suggest that anyone with a passion for learning, desire to help, and warm enthusiasm join the Homework Central team."

I became involved with Homework Central on August of 2006 when I began working as a paid tutor. I worked with Homework Central until May of 2008 but to me it never felt like a job because helping the children with reading, math and special projects was what I enjoyed doing. Two years later I received an invitation to be part of Homework Central’s Board and I didn’t have to think twice about my response. I can relate to our Homework Central students and families because growing up I had similar struggles. Spanish being my primary language, made it more challenging for me to complete my homework when I was a child. I was fortunate enough to be in a program similar to Homework Central that offered after school homework assistance. I am proud to continue being a part of Homework Central because I feel that I can give back the educational support that I once received as a child. Thanks to the board, volunteers, site coordinators and everyone involved with Homework Central for making this organization a success.

My name is Evelyn. I like to go to Homework Central because they help me with my homework and I play games. I have a brother and a sister and a mom and a dad and they like me so much and I like them too. I am 8 years old and I like to read with my tutor. And I like to play games with my tutor. That’s why I love coming to Homework Central. When I grow up, I will be a vet.
